TAIPEI and LONGHUA—August 18, 2006—Being a firm believer of corporate governance
and an advocate of Social and Environmental Responsibility (or "SER"), not only
Foxconn Technology Group (or "Foxconn") has long been recognized as the second largest
givers for social cause in Mainland China, Foxconn has also long been an active
member of the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (or "EICC"). Naturally, as an
EICC member, Foxconn has a comprehensive SER system. Foxconn not only provides a
better than average working environment and compensation package that suit the needs
of her employees, but also continuously strives to further improve upon. Below are
just some examples of Foxconn SER program that may have been part of the reasons
why Foxconn finds her name in various Best Employer Rankings in regions where she
operates.
Foxconn's commitment and investment in employees' health benefit is
well ahead of
the industry. Go beyond the mandatory social security coverage, Foxconn also provides
additional comprehensive medical plan on top of both entrant and periodic health
checkups to every employee. On top of company's own medical staff team, Foxconn
also invites Shenzhen People's Hospital to set up operations on her campus. The
extent of Foxconn's seriousness about her employees' health is extremely rare in
most parts of the world.
Foxconn also cares about her employees' long term growth. Foxconn provides all major
types of courses and training programs to promote continue learning and personal development. By aggressively forming ties with expanding list of accredited domestic
and international institutes of higher learning, Foxconn actively assists her employees
in pursuing their bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. As for the non-degree programs,
aside from the likes of foreign languages, job related skills and engineering related
trainings one usually expects from the similar type of offerings, Foxconn even enlisted
the former dean of University of Texas System as head of her continue education
department to expand the design and implementation of internal training courses
and commissions wide range
of
outside experts to provide various professional and
recreational courses. The extent of investments and commitments Foxconn showers
on her employees' growth are uncommon even by the United States standard.
Striving to provide a comfortable environment to her employees, Foxconn continuously
adds amenities to her campuses and company owned accommodations; such as, installation

professional property management personnel, greenery and floral landscaping, not
to mention soccer fields, tracks, basketball courts, swimming pools, libraries and

and assure SER as a priority in a total supply chain initiative. In the past two
years, Foxconn has not only improved her systems to manage this very important aspect
of operations, but also, leveraging her position as the world's leader in the manufacturing
services providing industry, actively collaborating with all strategic partners
to encourage even her own supply chain to acknowledge and to implement the Code.
Under her strategic partners' encouragement, guidance and tutelage, Foxconn seeks
to raise the bar on the SER front and pushes for adoption of EICC Code of Conduct
worldwide; in so doing, Foxconn has gone beyond mere compliance by working with
China Training Institute to provide helps to advance and propagate social and environmental
responsibility aligned with EICC. With her commitment to high standard, Foxconn
has been recognized by Shenzhen government as a role model.

1. Is there any age requirement for working at Foxconn?
Foxconn does not establish any form of employment with anyone who is under the legal
working age. Any applicant for working at Foxconn must present, at the minimum,
a valid form of ID at the time of application.
2. Does Foxconn require her employees to work overtime?
Foxconn has policies sanctioning any practice of compulsory overtime and all overtimes
are results of employees' voluntary participations. Due to her industry's pronounced
seasonality nature, there are, however, incidents where some employees may work
hours exceeding some guidance regarding hours over normal workweeks and situations
where employees may not receiving desirable amount of overtime work. Being a proud
member of EICC, Foxconn is committed on a continuous improvement drive against all
EICC guidance. Therefore, contrary to her employees' overtime wishes, Foxconn collaborates
with her strategic partners to improve quality of rolling forecasts, aggressively
augments her workforce to counter gaps arose from the wide gyration between seasonal
peaks and troughs and implemented policies regulating and
monitoring overtimes.
3. How does Foxconn pay her employees?
Foxconn pays her employees via direct deposit on a monthly basis. By not only meeting
respective government regulations, but also far ahead of
industry norms, Foxconn's
package immunes her from labor shortages that has been commonly experienced by companies
in coastal area of China . Being an avid member of EICC, Foxconn enacts strict policy
sanctioning any form of wage/salary deduction as tool of employee disciplinary measure.
On a continuous improvement drive, Foxconn has also simplified her pay structure
recently to address a recent employee survey. Currently, Foxconn is working on the
October rollout of an automated system that electronically linked employee's badge
reading to computation of overtime pay.
4. Does Foxconn provide employee dormitory? What's the condition?
Foxconn voluntarily provides free accommodation to her employees. Despite the best
of intentions, when Foxconn is caught by unexpected outsize surges in headcount
resulted from exceptionally wide seasonality gyration or the numbers of employees
who elect to take advantage of company-provided housing, even Foxconn's world's
best prepared campus may find herself inadequate to accommodate needs of such extreme
scale and may have to scramble to lease additional temporary off-campus accommodations
to house some of these employees. Naturally, the living conditions of these temporary
leased properties may be less favorable compared to on-campus dormitories, however,
Foxconn strives to cure these shortcomings by continuing purchase additional land to build more than 40% additional on-campus dormitories by yearend 2006 on her continual
quest to host employees with comfortable living conditions.
Foxconn also voluntarily provides free shuttle buses to commuting operators who
stay in the company sponsored off-campus housing. Admittedly, with ever escalating
headcounts, Foxconn is on a continuing challenge to provide adequate transportation
for these employees during the rush hours. Foxconn has deployed teams of Operations
Research experts on a dynamic study of these situations and actively seeks to improve
the situation by implementing techniques such as the likes of staggering working
hour or route optimization … etc.
5. What is Foxconn's policy against physical punishment or disciplinary actions?
Foxconn has conducted a non-tolerance policy to anyone who imposes any kind of physical
punishment to her employees/subordinates. This policy has been clearly stated in
the employee's work manual and also has been repeatedly reminded to the whole employment
body throughout bulletin board system. Foxconn also purposely includes safety and
legal related courses in her continue education offerings to empower employees with
the knowledge to protect themselves and aware of their legal rights.
6. How can an employee voices mistreatment or concerns at Foxconn?
Foxconn encourages her employees to use established
grievance procedure to report
any unacceptable misconduct by anyone, such channel has been in existence for many years; includes a corporate hotline and CEO mailboxes scattered throughout the campus
only to be opened and answered by dedicated personnel. These hotline and the CEO
mailboxes, employees can elect to inform anonymously.
7. What exactly is EICC?
The Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (EICC) outlines standards to ensure that
working conditions in the electronics and Information and Communications Technology
(ICT) supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity and
that manufacturing processes are environmentally responsible. The EICC paves the
way for a harmonized approach to supplier performance across several areas of social
responsibility including ethics, labor standards, environmental impacts and health
& safety.
EICC Implementation Group has been formed to create a comprehensive set of tools
and methods that support the successful implementation of the EICC throughout the
ICT supply chain. The Vision of the EICC Implementation Group is that through the
application of high standards [EICC Implementation Group] can create better social,
economic and environmental outcomes for all those involved in the ICT supply chain.
This includes increased efficiency and productivity for companies and suppliers,
